Abu Rayhon Beruni’s “Osor ul-boqiya” and the Preservation of Eastern Spirit and Contextual Uniqueness in Its English Translation

Abstract

Abu Rayhon Beruni is one of the brightest scholars of the medieval East, and his scientific heritage still holds great importance today. The work “Osor ul-boqiya” encompasses history, culture, astronomy, ethnography, and anthropology. The book widely describes the lifestyle, customs, and religious views of ancient peoples. During its translation into English, preserving the Eastern spirit created by Beruni brings about several difficulties.
